English

Children will be studying examples of Anglo-Saxon poetry and play scripts. They will use these texts to create their very own examples of these genres. We will also explore a number of Norse myths and use these to inspire our descriptive writing. We will be reading ‘The King who threw away his thrown’ by Terry Deary. King Vortigern and his servant Mervyn discover danger from all sides—invading Saxons, fierce Picts and a captivating Saxon princess—can Mervyn protect the King from the consequences of his own risky choices?

Maths

We will learn how to partition numbers to ten thousand. We will estimate ,order and round numbers to ten thousand. We will also investigate how Roman Numerals are translated. We will also ensure our tables knowledge is both fast and accurate.

Science

Eat, chew and digest

We will investigate the human digestive system. Starting with the mouth and teeth, identifying teeth types and their functions. They link this learning to animals' diets and construct food chains to show the flow of energy

Computing

On line safety/ Unpacking software

We will begin with ensuring we understand Online Safety. We will also build our knowledge and understanding of effective searching skills to ensure we can use the internet safely.

DT – Preserve it

We will be learning about food decay and preservation. They discover key inventions in food preservation . We will use our knowledge to prepare, package and evaluate a healthy snack

Art & Design

The power of Colour

This project teaches children about colour theory by studying the colour wheel and colour mixing. It includes an exploration of warm and cool colours, Aboriginal art and how artists use colour in their artwork.

History / Geography

Adventures across Americas

We will learn about compass points and four and six-figure grid references. We will also learn about the tropics and the countries, climates and culture of North and South America.

Invasion

After the Roman's left, many Britons returned to the life of the Iron Age. They no longer lived in towns, used money or kept written records.
This project teaches children about life in Britain after the Roman withdrawal. Children will learn about Anglo-Saxon and Viking invasions up to the Norman conquest

Being Me in my world

Children will learn how good it feels to be included in a group and understand how it feels to be excluded. We will explore Rights, Responsibilities and Democracy.

RE

Hinduism

We will learn how Hindus show their faith, and explore Hindu beliefs and teachings about duties in life.

PE

Ball skills

Football and Tag Rugby. We will learn controlled passing and receiving the ball along with understanding of moving into space to work as a team.

Music

We will be learning to play the cornet. We will be playing various musical motifs (repeating patterns) during our lessons. We will be exploring loops and layers in music.
